A common question we’re asked, is if waxing will get easier over time. The good news is, it will! But you need to ensure you keep up with your waxing routine and regularly book in for treatments every 4 – 6 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle.

There are two major factors that impact why a wax is painful, your hair and your skin.

Hair

If you have been shaving your hair, you will find your hair is quite thick and dense. Once you begin waxing, your hair will start to grow back a lot less dense, so with each wax there is less hair to be removed.

Your first wax will remove the hairs which have fully grown, as not all your hairs grow in the same cycle. After your third consecutive wax appointment, with no shaving in between, you should find all your hair starts growing in the same pattern and cycle, which means a lot less tweezing and less in grown hairs, and all of that means less pain for you!

Lastly, the stronger and healthier your hair, the less likely it is to break and cause ingrown hairs. By removing hydrated hair from the roots, rather than breaking hair means we can give you the best possible results from your wax with the least amount of pain.

Skin

Your skin is the next factor that can affect your waxing experience.

If you have dry skin this can cause ingrown hairs and sensitivity, which will only result in a more painful wax. The day before any waxing treatment, ensure you exfoliate the skin to remove all dead skin cells. This will help the wax stick to your hair and not your skin so when the wax is removed it doesn’t grip the skin and cause additional pain.

After you have had your wax you will need to rehydrate the skin. Brazilian Butterfly lotion is specifically made for all your after treatment needs. Not only is it PH balanced but it helps rehydrate your skin and strengthen your hair. The stronger and more hydrated your skin, the less sensitive it will be leaving you with a quicker and more efficient wax!
