Just like getting a haircut, shaping your eyebrows isn’t a one-shape-suits-all scenario. To find your perfect brow you need to understand the shape of your face.

Understanding your face shape has many benefits, not only does it mean that the right arches can be used to emphasize your eyes but it can also open up the eye area, make you look younger and healthier and improve your face’s overall symmetry.

So how do we determine the brow shape for you? To start, we need to assess your unique face shape. Below is a list of the different face shapes there are.

Round Face – think Miranda Kerr, Emma Stone and Cameron Diaz:

For those with round faces, your eyebrows are a way of making the face appear less round by making the face appear longer. There is a lack of definition when it comes to a round face, so your eyebrow needs to be very angular and arched. This can help elongate your face as well as help to define your bone structure. For a round face, you will find a higher arch is most flattering.

Long Face – think Sarah Jessica Parker and Liv Tyler:

With a long face shape, the goal of your eyebrows is to make the face appear shorter. Your face is characterised by features that are vertically stretched out. To help give the illusion of a shorter face you need a more horizontal eyebrow shape with an extended tail to really play up your horizontal features. Be careful when sculpting your eyebrow that you don’t take it too far out or you will drag the eye down making it appear droopy.

Square Face – think Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie:

Having a square face is determined by the square shaped jaw line and angularity of your face. To soften these features softly rounded eyebrows are the way to go. If you make your eye brows too angular it will appear harsh against the strong jaw line. But be careful you don’t over pluck the eyebrows and create a rainbow shaped eyebrow instead of a softly rounded eyebrow!

Heart Face – think Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift and Kate Hudson:

A heart shaped face is characterised by a petite jaw line and emphasis on the upper portion of the face, it is for this reason it is important you have well-manicured and exceptionally groomed eyebrows, as this is the focal point of your face. We recommend a softly arched or slightly rounded brow which will help balance out your face and soften the jaw line.

Oval Face – think Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and Blake Lively:

An oval face shape is considered to be the most symmetrical face shape. If you have an oval shaped face you will be best complemented with a classic, balanced brow. We recommend having a slightly arched eyebrow which will sit perfectly on your face.
