It seems, almost overnight, that threading took the western world by storm. Since its introduction, its popularity has grown at an incredible speed, but does it deliver better results than waxing?

Let’s take a closer look at the two services to weigh up the pros and cons.

Threading:

Whilst threading is incredible for hair removal, it can really only be used to remove facial hair. This is because the surface area that the thread covers is minimal, so it can only remove lines of hair at a time as opposed to large areas like waxing.

But this precision is very beneficial for the face and in particular, for shaping eyebrows. Threading allows you to create sharp lines to give your brows unbelievable definition, with minimal redness and swelling and in much less time than waxing.

For those with sensitive skin, you may enjoy threading over waxing as there are no chemicals used on your skin – just the thread!

Waxing

Many of our clients comment that waxing is less painful than threading. This is because our wax is specially formulated to grab only hair and not skin, whereas threading does have a tendency to pinch the skin. But with less pain comes some redness and swelling, particularly on sensitive areas of the body where the skin is delicate.

Waxing is also much faster on areas of the body requiring a significant amount of hair removal, as the goal is to remove all of the hair rather than shape it. Think, arms, legs and bikini areas.

Now don’t get us wrong, waxing is still great for eyebrows, particularly if you want a slightly softer look. It really does come down to personal preference and what works best for your face shape.

As you can see, there’s really no standout winner when it comes to waxing and threading. If you’re still unsure about which method to go with, why not try both? Hair removal is a very personal and subjective thing. What works for some, may not work for others. We always recommend trying both threading and waxing and see which you prefer.
