Happy New Year butterflies! If you’re anything like us, you are starting the new year feeling very bloated and sluggish. Whilst this Christmas/New Year period is a happy one full of celebrations, family and friends, it is also full of over-eating, sweet treats and often, a little too much alcohol.

Since we need a post-festive-season-detox, we thought you might too. It isn’t hard, the detox we are committing to is simple and only takes 3 easy steps:

  1. Exfoliation:

All the delicious food and drink that was consumed over the festive season is going to start coming out in your skin, which is never a nice look. To take your skin from dull to radiant you will need to exfoliate. For the body we suggest exfoliating your skin every day for a week and then return to your usual routine. For the face we recommend exfoliating every second day for the first week, then dropping back to your normal routine.

  1. Cleanse:

Cleansing isn’t just limited to the skin, after a period of excessive consumption, your body will need a cleanse too.

In terms of the body, after a week of feasting, it is time to flush out the toxins. For a minimum of 2 weeks, start each day by drinking a warm glass of water with freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed in, this is a fantastic detoxifier which your body will thank you for. During this 2-week period try to avoid all alcohol and caffeine so your body can focus on flushing the toxins that are already in your body, rather than the new ones being added!

 

  1. Exercise:

There is no better way of getting rid of toxins then to sweat them out! After a week of fun and indulgence it is time to get back in to a routine. Try to exercise each day for at least half an hour. Not only will this get the heart rate up and the body sweating but exercise releases endorphins which will help to pep you up from your post-Christmas bloat.
