What’s the one question men ask when they come into the salon for their first Brazilian wax? You would think it would be something around how painful the service will be, or how long it would take, wouldn’t you?
Surprisingly, the most common question we get asked is, ‘how common is this?’
For men, getting a Brazilian wax isn’t something that’s commonly spoken about around mates. In fact, it’s not even really spoken about at all! There seems to be a stigma that exists when it comes to hair removal; men shave, and women wax.
But what we’re finding, is that more and more men are turning to waxing for their personal grooming.
So if you’ve been thinking about making the switch to waxing down there, but aren’t sure what’s involved, then take a look at our guide to getting a male Brazilian wax.
What to expect
If you have never had a Brazilian wax before (or anything waxed for that matter), it’s not surprising that you will be a little on edge about it.
A good therapist will always do their best to make you feel comfortable. The more you sweat, the harder it becomes to remove the wax, so it’s in both of your best interests to be cool calm and collected!
It’s also important to remember that you’re not our first male client. Of course, it’s easy to say that, but hard to care when you’re on the treatment table baring all. Just remember, a good therapist doesn’t judge and always wants you to leave feeling and looking great.
Does a male Brazilian hurt? Let’s be honest, waxing doesn’t tickle, but the majority of our male clients walk out saying ‘that wasn’t as bad as I thought’.
There are techniques that a good therapist will use to help make the experience more comfortable. Male waxing isn’t a spectator sport – the better you can assist your therapist with holding the skin taut, the less discomfort you will experience.
Waxing in general also becomes less painful the more you do it, as the hair growth becomes finer. Regular customers barely bat an eyelid after a few appointments.
Types of Brazilians
All off? Top only? There are so many different types of waxes you can get; it all depends on personal preference. Here are the three most popular types of male Brazilian waxes:
Full male Brazilian: First, we’ll clip the hair short to prepare the area, if you haven’t done so already. Then, all of the hair is removed from the top bikini line, shaft, scrotum and inner bottom.
Half Brazilian #1: We clip the hair to be neat and tidy on the bikini line and wax the scrotum, shaft and inner bottom.
Half Brazilian #2: We’ll wax the top bikini line, shaft and scrotum, but not the inner bottom.
As the specialists in Brazilian waxing, we’ll make sure you’re in good hands. If you’re ready to try a Brazilian wax, then visit your closest salon, or book online.
